Privacy Policy
Motus Weddings ("Motus," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the rights you have over it — whether you're submitting an inquiry, texting or emailing with us, or using our planning tools. It applies to motusweddings.com and any Motus Weddings apps or planning tools, and it works alongside our Terms & Conditions.
1. Who we are
Motus Weddings is a Colorado-based adventure wedding photography and videography studio. We are headquartered in Bailey, Colorado, United States, and we serve clients throughout the United States and internationally. You can reach us at love@motusweddings.com or (720) 500-2212.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in a few different ways:
Information you give us directly
- First and last name, and your partner's name
- Email address and phone number
- Event date, location, and type (wedding, elopement, engagement, etc.)
- Service interest and budget range
- Any notes, questions, or planning details you share with us, including through our planning tools
Information created if you use a Motus planning app or client account
- Login and account details
- Notes, checklist progress, and saved plans you create
- Documents we upload for you (timelines, permit guides, shoot plans) once you've booked
Information collected automatically
- Basic website usage data (pages visited, general location by IP, device/browser type) through standard analytics
We do not collect payment card numbers or bank details through our website or planning tools. Payment for booked services is handled through a separate contract and invoicing process.
3. How we use your information
- Responding to your inquiry — following up within 24 hours to discuss your event
- Booking and event communications — availability, contracts, timelines, and day-of logistics
- Operating your planning account — saving your notes and progress, and delivering documents we've prepared for you
- Marketing communications — emails and, if you've separately opted in, text messages about our services, real weddings, and promotions
- Improving our services and website
We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third-party advertisers.
4. Email communications
By submitting an inquiry or creating a planning account, you consent to receive email from us, including marketing email. Every marketing email clearly identifies Motus Weddings as the sender, includes a valid physical address, and provides a working unsubscribe link, honored within 10 business days, consistent with the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act. You may also unsubscribe by emailing love@motusweddings.com with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.
5. Text message (SMS) communications
Text message consent is collected separately from email consent and is never required to book with us or use our planning tools.
If you provide your phone number and separately opt in, we may send you text messages about your booking, planning reminders, or promotions. By opting in, you provide your prior express written consent to receive text messages from Motus Weddings at the number provided, which may be sent using automated technology.

- Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase or booking.
6. How we store and protect your data
Your contact and marketing information is managed through MailerLite, our email platform, with its own consent tracking and unsubscribe handling. Your account information — login, notes, saved plans, and any documents we upload for you — is stored in a database we own and control, hosted on U.S.-based cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, passwords are never stored in plain text, and one couple's account information is never visible to another couple's account.
We also currently use Google (Sheets, Gmail, Apps Script) to receive inquiries and Notion for internal client management, each subject to that provider's own privacy and security practices.
7. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to serve you — including after your wedding, so we can continue the relationship and, where relevant, deliver planning documents or respond to future questions. If you unsubscribe from marketing, we remove you from active marketing lists but may retain a minimal opt-out record for compliance purposes. You can request deletion of your account and personal data at any time (see Section 8).
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. To exercise any of them, email love@motusweddings.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, generally within 45 days.
Colorado residents (Colorado Privacy Act)
You have the right to confirm whether we process your personal data, access it, correct it, delete it, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. We do not sell personal data.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion or correction, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Exercising these rights will never result in discriminatory treatment.
European Union, EEA, and UK residents (GDPR)
Where GDPR applies, your data is processed based on your consent, our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry, or the performance of a contract if you book with us. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your data, to data portability, and to object to processing. Your data is stored and processed in the United States; by submitting your information, you consent to this transfer.
Canada (CASL)
By checking a consent box and submitting your information, you provide express consent to receive commercial electronic messages from Motus Weddings under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation. You may withdraw consent at any time as described in Sections 4 and 5.
Everyone else
Regardless of where you live, you can always ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we'll honor that request wherever reasonably possible.
9. Children's privacy
Our services are intended for adults planning weddings and elopements. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
10. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses standard analytics cookies to understand general site traffic and improve the experience. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
11. Third-party services
We currently rely on the following third parties to operate our website, inquiry process, and planning tools: Google (Sheets, Gmail, Apps Script), Notion (internal client management), MailerLite (email marketing), and our database hosting provider (account and planning data). Each is subject to its own privacy policy. We do not share your data with any other third party for marketing purposes.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. If changes are significant, we'll make reasonable efforts to let you know directly.
