Adventure Wedding Photographer in Colorado

35mm film and full digital coverage, developed in-house. Every candid, unscripted moment, photographed the way it actually felt.

What Is Adventure Wedding Photography?

Adventure wedding photography documents your day wherever it actually happens, a ridgeline at sunrise, an off-road trail, or the venue that feels most like you, in a candid, unscripted style. At Motus that means 35mm film and digital shot side by side, with nothing staged and nothing performed.

The style grows out of cinéma vérité, the tradition French documentary filmmakers proved in the 1960s: the truest moments, the ones that actually move you, are never rehearsed. No poses, no performances. Just you, the wilderness, and the truth of your story.

Adventure is whatever is uniquely yours. Some couples hike to a ridgeline with a dozen people and a permit. Some fly in by helicopter. Some do the whole thing off-road. And some of the most memorable days had nothing to do with elevation: a rooftop, a record store, the brewery where you had your first date. If you have ever said "we want it to feel like us," that is the definition.

Your photographers are Brandon and Aby, a husband and wife team living at 8,888 feet in Bailey, Colorado. Most couples get both of us on the day, and when additional coverage is needed, we bring in people we trust. Colorado is home, and we travel worldwide, from the high country to elopements in New Zealand.

What Comes With Your Wedding Photography?

Every Motus photography package includes your full digital gallery, 35mm film photography, in-house film development, and complimentary film prints. Coverage runs from a half day to multiple days, and every candid, unscripted moment in between belongs to you at full resolution.

A digital sneak peek lands within 48 hours, and real 35mm film scans follow within 72 hours, actual film from the moment you were in, not a filter. The full gallery arrives in the standard six to eight week window, with rush delivery available.

Half-Day coverage runs up to five hours with 200 to 250 fully edited images, built for elopements and intimate ceremonies. Full-Day runs up to ten hours with 450 to 500 images, from getting ready to the last dance. Multi-Day delivers 600 or more images across both days. The complete breakdown lives on the investment page, and real galleries are on our work.

Why Shoot Your Wedding on 35mm Film?

35mm film holds a nostalgic feel that digital cannot fake: grainy, golden-hour light, real color, real texture. Every frame costs something, so every frame is considered. We shoot film not for nostalgia but for permanence, work meant to be held, not scrolled past.

Brandon develops every roll of 35mm and medium format film in-house, along with the studio's Super 8mm conversion. Nothing is mailed to a lab, and nothing waits in someone else's queue. That is also why film scans reach you within 72 hours instead of weeks.

Candid film-still vignettes of couples dancing in fields, exchanging vows on mountaintops, frozen in grainy, golden-hour light.

Film is an older medium, and older cameras can fail in ways you cannot always see in real time. So backup film cameras and digital cameras run alongside each other at every wedding. You get the film look without betting your wedding day on it. Read more about the still format on the 35mm film page.

Want motion film too?

The video side of the studio shoots Super 8mm and 16mm motion picture film alongside digital cinema cameras. See wedding videography, Super 8mm film, and 16mm film for how the formats work together.

Wow just WOW. We had such an amazing experience!

Brandon was dedicated to capturing every beautiful moment of our special day this past June. He also exceeded our expectations by being cognizant of lighting, angles, and ALL things photography/videography related. Brandon knows his stuff, you can trust him and his company to go above and beyond. His company also doesn't feel like a big platform company that will skimp over the intricate details that an artist thinks about when creating beautiful photos and videography. We are grateful for his ability to build a relationship with us as a couple as well. We are forever thankful that we chose them for our day. Don't hesitate to check out their amazing work on social media platforms!

What Does It Cost?

Wedding photography with Motus is an investment from $5,900, covering your full digital gallery, 35mm film photography, in-house development, and complimentary film prints. The only additional cost is the physical film stock itself, which we quote for your specific day, because how much film we shoot depends on how long we shoot.

Wedding Photography Questions

How much does adventure wedding photography cost in Colorado?

Wedding photography with Motus is an investment from $5,900. Every package includes your full digital gallery, 35mm film photography, in-house film development, and complimentary film prints. The only additional cost is the physical film stock itself, which is quoted for your specific day based on how long we shoot.

Do you shoot film or digital at weddings?

Both, on every wedding. You receive a full high-resolution digital gallery plus real 35mm film shot on Kodak Portra, developed and scanned in-house. Backup film cameras and digital cameras run alongside each other all day, so the film look never comes at the cost of reliability.

What counts as an adventure wedding?

Adventure is whatever is uniquely yours. Some couples hike to a ridgeline with a dozen people and a permit, some go off-road to a ceremony past a cattle gate, and some pick the brewery where they had their first date. If the place and the day feel like you two, it counts.

How many wedding photos will we receive?

A Half-Day covers up to five hours with 200 to 250 fully edited images. A Full-Day covers up to ten hours with 450 to 500 images from getting ready to the last dance. Multi-Day coverage delivers 600 or more images across both days, plus your 35mm film scans.

When do we see our wedding photos?

A digital sneak peek is delivered within 48 hours, and real 35mm film scans follow within 72 hours. Your full gallery arrives through PicTime in the standard six to eight week window, with rush delivery available if you want everything sooner.

Do you photograph elopements and small weddings?

Yes. Elopements are a core part of the studio, not a sidebar. Coverage moves with you, whether that means a sunrise ridgeline, an off-road trail, or a ceremony with a handful of people. Half-Day coverage is built for exactly one location, one ceremony, and one golden hour.
